DIESEL LOCOS

Class 739, 740, 741

Class 740 almost equals to the class 742, with higher axleload, while constructed for industrial operators and sidings. A few hundreds were built and located exclusively in industrial traffic, outside state railway company. urrently two are already owned by CD as well, thus making small exception.
All the other units, shown here, have arisen from some Class 740 unit which were rebuilt in
recent years.

Since Class 740 creates majority of almost all private rail operators' fleets, it can be seen also outside the factories, heading open access freights.


740 414 + 740 460 OKD, Doprava
Train:
Vn 59698 Kladno-Dubi - Cizkovice, empty rake. In the other direction, it brings limestone from the cement-works in Cizkovice to the industrial complex ECK (Energocentrum Kladno), located in Kladno.
Location:
Between Dolni Berkovice and Horni Pocaply, just passing the Melnik power station.
* On the first photo, it is just passing its de-frosting tunnel. This utility is used during winter season for coal trainloads after arrival.
* On the second photo, the train is just passed by light engine Class 141, on its return way from Hnevice, where some member of this Class brings every afternoon wood and timber trainload from Beroun. At this day, the loco got empties from limestone , spent just in the powerplant seen here. The train was coupled to the loco in Dolni Berkovice, not far away from here.

OKD, Doprava is both the largest industrial operator and most frequent open access operator. It is a daughter of large coal mining company OKD. It is active firstly in the Ostrava region, but in substantial extent also elswhere, both as operator of sidings in factories and open access trains.

UNIPETROL – DOPRAVA is a transportation subsidiary of the chemical-petroleum UNIPETROL group. Until April 2003 it was named CHEMOPETROL - DOPRAVA, according to the in Litvínov loacted plant CHEMOPETROL, one of the UNIPETROL members. Just the depicted locos show this change well, since the first (740 546) wears the yellow-black livery, well known for the rail stock of CHEMPETROL DOPRAVA for many years, while the second (740 879) is a pioneer, painted in the UNIPETROL DOPRAVA corporate livery.
Since November 2002, this company is active as an open access operator as well.

740 796 SD - KD
shunting with limestone trainload (plus two tanks just behind the loco) on the siding of the Prunerov power plant (situated next to Kadan railway station) on  17 May 2003.

Operator info: SD means Severoceske doly - Kolejova doprava which is a railway-specialized subsidiary of lignite mining company Severoceske doly, based in Chomutov. SD - KD is active on many sidings in the northern Bohemia and private network between Brezno u Chomutova railway station, Tusimice mining pit and Prunerov station.

Mostecká uhelná spolecnost, is another (apart from SD) large mining company active in northern Bohemia. Already for couple of years it is an open access operator, operating just on this route.
